A Visit From Our North Carolina Friends!

The Young's came late Sunday (the 17th) evening and left Tuesday morning (the 19th).  They were on their way to speak at a homeschool convention in Canada.  (Their ministry is called Raising Real Men.)
Doing inventory and computer work, with some guitar music by Matt to make it all sound better. :)
John Calvin with two computers and a phone!

We enjoyed many rounds of "Nerts". :)

Since they are from North Carolina, they are not used to snow, especially deep fluffy snow.  Ana enjoyed teaching them how to sled.
It's COLD out y'all!

When we came indoors, Ana made up a big pot of hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows.  Delicious!!

All of us 'kids' before they left Tuesday morning. :)

A Surprise Birthday Party!

This past Saturday our church family enjoyed celebrating Mrs. S's 70th birthday!!  She had no idea that her children were up to something and was completely surprised when she came to church and found so many people waiting in the basement!  It was a lot of fun!

Delicious chocolate covered strawberries made by Mrs.T.!

 And here she is!!!

 With 4 of her granddaughters.

Mrs. D

Early in December one of the ladies from our church passed away from cancer.  (She is the third from the left in the above picture from last February.) She was a very creative lady, who at 70, was busy restoring an old log barn and turning it into a retreat center, leading Bible studies, and being president of the local Christian Women's Connection (CWC).

Mrs. D's hands and her little Bible from one of the Sunday Evening Fellowship meetings.

I saw this wedding picture on display at the funeral and had to take a picture of it.
Isn't is sweet?  :)

I was her assistant for VBS the past two years, and often rode to the CWC meetings with her since I did the childcare.  Because she was sick and not in church for over a month, it somehow does not seem like she is really gone.  Sometimes I find myself thinking that she will be in church when we get there.  I miss her, but I know she is happy in the presence of the Lord she so loved.

A Mercy

"It is a mercy that our lives are not left for us to plan, but that our Father chooses for us; else might we sometimes turn away from our best blessings, and put from us the choicest and loveliest gifts of His providence."

A Sunday at Home

It is a cold and snowy Sunday and church has been canceled.
We are supposed to get a lot of snow...maybe even a blizzard!
Our driveway is drifted in.
Huge snow flakes come down all day.

We have church at home and listen to a sermon from John 3 by Pastor John MacArthur called "God's Role in Regeneration".  Excellent!!
"Being born again is something that happens to you, not something you do."

After lunch we rest and then play Scrabble, and see how good we are at spelling. ;)
And drink hot chocolate.
And enjoy being snowed in together. :)

Photo Shoot With Ana!

Yesterday I asked Ana if she would mind helping me try out some lighting and posing techniques I had been learning.  She was happy to be my model, and here are a few of my favorite pictures!
